Everything's better at the beach

Captiva Island provides food for the soul

Abundant beauty, time to relax for a slower-paced vacation

Less than an hour’s drive from Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Captiva Island is a remote tropical paradise located in the Gulf of America and linked to Sanibel Island by a short bridge.  Captiva is just five miles long and only ½ mile at its widest with world-renowned pristine beaches, abundant seashells, diverse wildlife, and crystal blue waters. The Island is quiet and everywhere you turn, with a magical and captivating atmosphere, you'll feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard photo.

At Dancing Dolphin, in the heart of Captiva Village, the beaches are just steps away. With its breathtaking sunsets, star-studded night skies, playful dolphins and manatees, exciting boating, and some of the finest fishing in the world, Captiva is truly unique.  Strict zoning codes limit building heights. You also won’t find any traffic lights or fast food chains!

The gulf side of quaint Captiva Village has only 179 homes and cottages–with a short walk to the Gulf beaches.  It is a small, safe vacation area with a number of restaurants, shops, bistros, and live music. It has all of the charm, vibrancy, color, and walkable roads that you’d expect in a resort community.

On Captiva Island, there are no hassles, no schedules, and no need to rush.

A fun, vibrant community

Should you choose to move from your beach chair, there’s enough to do to satisfy all interests. There are a number of fabulous restaurants and shops on both islands. The nearby Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge provides large doses of nature and birding. And there’s a reason that the National Shell Museum is located in Sanibel–you can roam the beaches to search for world-class specimens.

Two public golf courses are located on Sanibel. Fort Myers is the winter home of the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. The Edison & Ford Winter Estates make for a great day trip.  And galleries and museums are abundant.

On Captiva Island, enjoy sunset and dolphin cruises, and watersports, including parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking, boating, and fishing.

And the beaches–especially the beaches!
